On Spelling
Dec. 5th, 2011 09:30 pmMy philosophy about Erika's spelling is that it seems to be improving on its own, so I see no reason to spend a lot of time trying to teach her spelling rules or working with her on spelling specifically. She has no problem asking for help or accepting correction with her work, and has no interest in doing any kind of rules-based spelling study, so this method is fine with both of us.
Every now and again, it's nice to take a look at her uncorrected work and see how things are coming along. This evening, she wrote ( the following letter )
I thought it was a pretty decent job, for a first grader working entirely on her own.
